FAVOUR BOXES AND BOMBONIERES

One aspect of the wedding day that tends to left to the last minute are the bombonieres or wedding favors for the guests. These are gifts to the guests given as a “thank you” for attending your wedding. Finding a variety of wedding favor choices tends to be difficult when limited by a budget and at the same time trying to find a useful gift your guests will enjoy. A small trinket is a typical gift and can be custom packaged nicely by placing them into favor boxes. Depending on the gift you are giving away, you might want to purchase clear favor boxes so that the gift can be viewed right away. However, it can also be a little more exciting surprising to have your gift inside a customized favor box created in the same paper stock as your wedding invitations. You can then continue your wedding theme by incorporating the same paper colours and using the same ribbon colours to match the favour boxes to the invitations.

Some sample items that brides can give away in a custom favour box include
-wine or bottle stoppers
-coasters
-letter openers
-paper weights
-crystal ornaments
-corkscrews
-wine charms
-coffee scoops
-shot glasses
-food items such as cookies or other edible treats

Some brides choose to give a donation to a charity in lieu of a wedding favor. In this case, the etiquette is to give a piece of chocolate or candy in conjunction with the donation. You can place chocolates in a favour box and add a printed favor tag to the favour box to indicate the charity you have made your donation to.

Below is a sample donation message for a favor tag:

If you are not giving a donation, you can simply print your monogramor your names to match your wedding invitations and a simple thank you message with the wedding date.

Favor boxes come in different shapes, sizes and colours, so remember to shop around before you purchase your favor boxes, and check if your wedding invitations company supplies favor boxes. If you are crafty, ask your stationary company if you can purchase unassembled favor boxes and gather all your bridesmaids to help in assembling them. This can really help with the wedding budget.

Your favour boxes can be placed on the plate of each guest, or if you are giving one per couple, you can place them on every other plate. If your gift is large, ask your hall to prepare a table for you ahead of time in the reception area to put all the packaged favors on, and your guests can pick up their gift at the end of the night. A new and creative way to display your favor boxes is to stack them at the centre of the table. This act as your centerpiece and save on costs! To keep the table soft and decorative, you can place some flowers around the table. Three small glass containers filled with a few stems of flowers will add much elegance while keeping your costs low!
