A child’s first communion is one of the most important passages in the Roman Catholic life. For such an important event, parents usually organize a party to celebrate this rite of passage. First communion party invitations are usually simple in design. The child is usually a little more involved in the selection of the invitation style and the colours may reflect the favorite colour of the child. First communion invitations also usually will include a religious symbol such as a cross incorporated in the design. The style of font chosen can be used to reflect how formal or casual the event will be.
A coloured cardstock printed with a cross at the top with an intricate scroll design underneath would denote a more formal communion party. For a more casual and contemporary first communion invitation design try using large colourful flower prints, large polka dots and stripes with a cross design. For a more simple design, consider using a cross watermark behind the invitation wording and tie a ribbon across the top of the invitation for added detail.
What to Include on Your First Communion Invitations
Start off by making a short statement of a personal nature on behalf of your family about how dear and important this occasion is. Make sure to include the name of the child, the date and time of the first communion ceremony followed by the time. Then list the name of the place you are holding the ceremony. Follow that with the date and time of the reception, if it is on a separate day, and the location of the reception including the name of the location.
